Amazon Baby Registry gives you the variety of choices you want and has the customer reviews and information you need to help you find the best baby items for your new arrival. Setting up your baby registry should be fun and relaxing. It doesn’t get more relaxing than sitting on your couch in your PJs registering online!
Amazon Baby Registry is an easy choice for moms and dads to be.
If you’re not sure about an online registry versus a registry with a physical store or you’d like to know more about the benefits of using Amazon’s Baby Registry let me share my top 4 reasons why Amazon Baby Registry rocks!
Amazon has a Large Variety of Baby Items
I had done my research on what items I wanted for our baby registry. I had a detailed list of the items I knew we “needed” for our baby to be. When we went to our first physical store [yep…we went to two stores to register] I was surprised at how few of the items we could find. The store either didn’t carry that brand or they only offered the item in one color, most often in black. I felt defeated. Amazon was a different story. If I found a car seat I loved it often was offered in multiple colors versus just black. When I searched for baby forehead thermometers there were over 1,000 results. This may seem overwhelming, but I loved that I could find the one that was right for us instead of the one baby thermometer the store had in stock.
I also love that Amazon Baby Registry also has items from smaller companies that the stores don’t carry. For example, I wanted to find a baby food feeder that was silicone instead of mesh and with a simple search, I found this great Silicone Baby Food Feeder on Amazon that our baby loves.
Amazon also gives you an easy to use interactive checklist that helps you find the items you may need. Right within the Registry Checklist, you can select a category and it automatically brings up a list of items for you to search through or add to your registry. Thus eliminating walking through a store, pregnant, trying to find all the items on your list. You can also shop from their lists and recommendations if you need ideas.
You can not only add any Amazon item to your baby registry, but you can even add items from other websites to your baby registry making it a universal registry. I chose to focus on trying to find Prime items and items that qualified for Amazon’s completion discount, this way I got the best bang for my buck.
Most stores have items for moms to be, but Amazon, as I’m sure you’ve guessed, has so much more. While not many people bought these items as gifts I was able to purchase them when I did our registry completion purchase. You’re about to enter a whole new chapter in your life and you need things just as much as your baby. Amazon makes this easier.
If you’re looking for a comprehensive registry that will cover pretty much any baby item you can imagine as well as items for mom and dad then start your Amazon Baby Registry today! If you would appreciate some help making the most of your baby registry check out this post.
Amazon Baby Registry Benefits and Offers
Amazon’s registry has great benefits and offers that I found better or comparable to other baby registries. First, they offer an awesome Free Welcome Box that is worth up to $35. This box included more and higher quality items than other welcome gifts offered by other registries. Boxes change, so it will be a fun surprise to see what comes in your box. One of my favorite things we received in our box was a white muslin blanket with little hedgehogs on it. SO CUTE and practical!
One of the other benefits of Amazon Baby Registry is there return policy. Many products on Amazon already offer free returns, but through your registry, you have 90 days from receipt of shipment to return items. I love how easy it is to receive Amazon products, but I wondered how easy it would be to return items. When it comes to a physical store it’s nice to be able to run in and return any items you don’t want. We had to return 4-5 items and one of the items was a large activity gym. Amazon made the return process easy, with just a few clicks I set up the return. All of our items were eligible for pick up, so all we had to do was make sure the items were boxed and then our UPS guy picked the packages up, added his preprinted label, and handed me a receipt. This was a life-saver as I had a c-section and the idea of hauling that activity gym to the store would have been daunting. Another benefit was that most of our returns were credited as soon as the UPS driver scanned them at his truck.
Like most registries, Amazon Baby Registry offers a completion discount for items left on your registry. As an Amazon Prime member, you receive a 15% completion discount otherwise it is a 10% discount. For this reason and for all the other benefits my husband and I decided it was worth becoming Amazon Prime members. You can always try Amazon Prime for 30 days and see if it’s worth it for your family. I waited to use my 15% discount because we chose not to find out Baby J’s gender. Waiting for our daughter Anne to arrive to use our discount allowed us to purchase more gender-specific items as well as items we realized we needed after actually experiencing raising a baby.
There are other limited-time offers for Prime members that are a great value. One of our Prime offers was for a free Kindle download of a parenting book. I downloaded On Becoming Baby Wise: Giving Your Infant the Gift of Nighttime Sleep by Robert Bucknam M.D. it was already on my list of books to read so was a great bonus! It’s important to check on your registry because these offers do change.

Research Baby Items to Your Heart’s Content
Probably my favorite part of Amazon, in general, is that I can do research and find the item that best fits my wants and needs. This is also true for Amazon Baby Registry. Okay, I have to admit something to you, I love researching baby items so much that even before I knew I was pregnant I spent countless hours researching baby items. As I didn’t want to get too far ahead of my self 😛 I made a private wish list for Baby J to keep track of my favorite items. Doing the groundwork ahead of time made creating our registry super simple. Now, this amount of pre-planning isn’t for everyone, that’s where Amazon’s checklist and recommendations can help you.
Before I purchase anything on Amazon I read five or more reviews. I’ve found it helpful to read some 1- or 2-star reviews as well as the 4- or 5-star reviews. Sometimes this tells me that the product is not worth it or it can tell me that the 1-or 2-star reviews are because of user error or some other reason that makes the review not relevant. I also found that sometimes companies had read the lower reviews and made changes to their product based on customer reviews. In my opinion, if a company is willing to do that they must have some awesome customer service.
Another way to research baby items is through using sites that do reviews or create lists of best baby items. These sites have often done in-depth research on the baby items and/or field-tested them. One of my favorite sites was BabyGearLab, because of their detailed reviews and how they test the products. Many of these sites link back to Amazon, so you can easily save the item you love to your registry.
Word of caution while researching can be a fun part of creating your baby registry be careful not to dive into a black hole of over-researching or trying to find the “perfect” item. I tell you this because I am guilty of this when I was researching our Stroller. Now, we ended up with an awesome stroller, but I spent WAY too much time pouring over Amazon customer reviews and top stroller lists. I probably changed the stroller on our registry 4 times which was a waste of time I could have been spending on preparing for our new baby in other ways.
Amazon Baby Registry is User-Friendly
As I’ve mentioned we also registered at a physical store. We started with Buy Buy Baby, because of the 20% coupons and I remembered loving the store when my friend was pregnant. Well, I quickly changed my mind when I realized the hassle of being over an hour from the store and that they didn’t have much of what we wanted or needed [Plus what they did have was cheaper on Amazon!] Then we switched to Babies R’ Us which is now closed. One of my biggest complaints about both stores was their online registry because they were difficult to use and had constant issues. This is the exact opposite of Amazon’s registry.
On your computer or their mobile app, you can easily add products as you find them. Just below the buttons to add to your cart or add to your list is a link to add to baby registry. SUPER EASY! Then you can go into your registry and organize your items by category, change the quantity, and mark important items as must-haves. This made it easy for me and it also makes it easier for your friends and family when they shop. Another benefit for your friends and family is that you can easily share your registry to make it easier to find. [If you’re worried about pressuring people into buying gifts you can always share your registry with whoever is throwing your shower and they can pass it on.]
Amazon also does a great job keeping your registry updated as people purchase gifts for you. They even have a list called Thank You List and Returns where you can see who purchased your gift, track your thank yous, get addresses for your thank yous, and manage your returns. As I shared above their returns are also very user-friendly. They also have an area where you can share information about you and your partner, what you’re looking for, and about your nursery.
Amazon has developed a great baby registry and you can access it on your phone or computer. It doesn’t get much easier than searching for and adding items right from your phone.
If you are as excited as I was to start setting up your registry head over to Amazon Baby Registry and have fun perusing all the adorable baby things. In the end, no matter where you register make sure it feels right for you. If you love the idea of Amazon Baby Registry, but still want to use a registry at a physical store, do both. There are no rules against it and you get the benefits of both registries…WIN-WIN!
