Teacher moms spend a lot of their time thinking about others. They spend their time focused on the wants and needs of their families and their students. Often putting others’ needs before their own. When shopping for gifts for teacher moms the best bet is to find a gift that they want, but won’t justify spending the money on for themselves. Look for gifts that make them feel special and appreciated. Gifts that make it clear you know who they are and what their wants are.
The ideal gift for a teacher mom is a gift that she wouldn’t normally purchase for herself.
I’m not going to list a bunch of generic gifts that some teacher moms might love, but others would cringe if they got it. Instead, I want to give you a list of categories that will help guide you in what gifts a teacher mom might enjoy. I will also include some examples to help get your brainstorming process going.
Being a teacher mom does not make women all want and enjoy the same gifts. One woman may love cooking and would enjoy the gift of a fancy new kitchen gadget. There will also be someone who hates cooking and would feel hurt by a gift of a new kitchen gadget.
Teachers and moms have a tendency to give a lot of themselves in their everyday life. It can often be hard for them to think about what they want or even accept that they deserve an amazing gift. So take the time to find the ideal gift for the teacher mom in your life.

Luxury items
Luxury or fun items often get pushed further and further down on people’s priority list. Even if the item might make their lives better it can feel selfish to purchase it. These items make great gifts!
A luxury item is something someone wouldn’t normally spend money on because they feel guilty buying it. People often feel like they’re wasting money if an item isn’t a need, but a want. It may make their life easier or more enjoyable, but it isn’t vital to their survival.
When trying to figure out what type of luxury items your teacher mom might enjoy pay attention to items that they talk about in passing. They may mention hoping to get it “one day” or that the item is really cool, but not “worth” the money right now.
Possible Luxury Item Gift Ideas:
- Jewelry
- Silk Pillow Case
- Smart Watch (Like the Apple Watch)
- Nice Pair of Shoes
- New Outfit
- Cool Tech Gadget (Like the Echo Dot)
- Gift Certificate to a Favorite Store (This way they can choose their luxury item)
Items that Make Life Easier
Teacher moms live busy lives and a great gift idea is one that will make their life easier. This is a gift category to be careful of. Gifts in this category can feel like a family gift versus a gift just for them. Some people love getting gifts that will help them around the house, like a vacuum or some other new helpful gadget. But for others, it could rub them the wrong way.
Do you remember the scene in Father of the Bride when Annie breaks up with Brian because he gives her a blender? She feels it’s him trying to force her into a stereotypical role, but he is just thinking she likes to blend things… While it all worked out for Annie and Brian this feeling is something you’ll want to avoid. 🙂
Instead, think about their individual pain points. What do they talk about wishing to not have to do? What chores or tasks do they hate doing? What could help them have more time to do the things they enjoy?
Possible GiFT IDeas to Make Life Easier:
- Charging Station
- Robot Vaccum (Like the iRobot Roomba or Shark IQ Vaccum)
- Kitchen Gadgets That Save Time (Instant Pot)
- Car Remote Start
- New Computer (I love my HP Pavilion…it has made virtual teaching much easier!)
- Maid Service
- Lawn Service
Self Care Gifts
Like everyone teacher moms need help prioritizing self-care. If they are given a gift that promotes self-care this makes things much easier. Each person’s version of self-care is different. Some women might love a fun activity that lets them get away from their everyday life. Others might need more alone time, so a spa-type gift might be a good option. Spending time on a beloved hobby might be another person’s version of self-care.
The key to this type of gift is that it fits the person’s personality and desires. If someone is an introvert a night out on the town with a big group of people to see a comedian might not be the best option. It could end up causing stress instead of being a form of self-care.
Self Care Gift Ideas:
- Massage
- Manicure/Pedicure
- Items that bring the Spa Home
- Hobby Related Items (Baking, Painting, Remodeling, Crafting, Yoga, Wine, Hiking, etc.)
- Audible Gift Subscription
- Preplanned and Paid for Night Out
- Preplanned and Paid for Vacation
Some gifts I would avoid would be items for their classroom, household basic necessities, or gifts that are really for their kids. While a gift like this here and there might be appreciated a gift that is solely for them is even better.
Finding the ideal gift for the teacher mom in your life doesn’t have to be difficult. Take a moment to truly think about what they’d want. Listen to what they talk about wanting or wishing for. You’ll find an amazing gift. Remember the key to finding a good gift for a teacher mom is to discover items that she would enjoy, but wouldn’t justify spending money on for herself.
